Swartland Municipality, with its head office in Malmesbury, services the towns of Malmesbury, Yzerfontein, Moorreesburg, Darling, Koringberg, Abbotsdale, Kalbaskraal, Chatsworth, Riverlands, Riebeek West and Riebeek Kasteel.

The Municipality currently offers the following vacancies to suitably qualified and equipped persons:


Office of the Municipal Manager

IDP/LED Officer (Malmesbury)
Reference number: V14/17
Salary Scale: R272 568 – R353 796 (T12)

Requirements:

To be considered for this position you must be in possession of all the requirements below:
  • A degree or other appropriate qualification in Public Management, Institutional Development, Development Sciences or similar fields. Economics as a subject on at least second year level and/or a post graduate qualification in economics would be a strong recommendation.
  • Ability to work long hours under extreme pressure at times
  • Highly motivated, self-goal seeking, ability to work without supervision
  • Understand complex social systems and related development methodologies
  • Identify and apply good development practices
  • Facilitation of learning (grow capacity in others)
  • Facilitation of participatory processes
  • Good communicator
  • ICT and social media proficient
  • Negotiation skills
  • Valid Code EB driving license
  • 3-4 years’ experience in strategic management, performance management, economic development, business activity and/or integrated development planning will be a strong advantage

Chief Building Control Officer (Malmesbury)

Salary Scale: R306 852 – R398 328 (T13)

Requirements:

To be considered for this position you must be in possession of all the requirements below:
  • National Diploma or equivalent in the Building Environment, Civil, Quantity Surveying or Construction Industry
  • Valid Code EB driving license
  • Good sight, hearing and speech ability
  • Must be mentally fit and healthy to perform job functions
  • Must be able to function effectively in difficult working conditions
  • Good communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape
  • Good writing skills
  • Must work overtime and outside normal working hours for projects or deadlines (targets)
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions
  • Work during emergencies
  • Ability to use survey equipment
  • Potential to register as Law Enforcement Official
  • Technical and computer skills
  • 5 Years relevant experience in a construction / build environment
Recommendation
Relevant experience within a Local Government environment.
 
Note
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the Essential Vehicle Scheme, whereby the candidate must provide a suitable vehicle in the execution of work, and for which the Municipality will pay a monthly allowance in terms of Council Policy.
